Sex Therapy - Emerge Counseling Services - Pennsylvania Therapist

At Emerge Counseling Services, there is no direct sexual activity in our office. We look at sexual difficulties from a variety of perspectives including family history related to sexuality, culture, medical issues, mental health issues, relationship history, and current status of the relationship. We recognize that fears of performance, the need to please our partner, and disappointing our partner, contribute to significant anxiety that results in sexual difficulties.

A sex therapist helps you work through your sexual difficulties to feel more positive about your sexual self and gain sexual satisfaction.

We help you to change your thoughts, feelings, and behaviors in order for sex to feel more fulfilling, fun, and playful. We help you to explore your attitudes and expectations about sex as we know that misconceptions about sex can often contribute to relationship and sexual problems. We teach you to welcome different and new options in your sexual relationship which will enhance intimacy, closeness, and sexual pleasure. We also help to work through communication barriers within your relationship so you and your partner are able to feel more comfortable talking about sex and intimacy.

Some of the specific sexual difficulties we focus on include:

  • Concerns with sexual interests or orientation
